Winter Driving & Maintenence
November 2012

The Autumn leaves are almost gone and the cold, rainy NW winter weather is here.  With the holiday season comes travel, shopping and visiting friends and not always in the best weather. Winter brings different stresses to to your vehicle systems that can leave you stranded without proper maintenance. This is a great time to have winter vehicle maintenance. Nothing is worse than a vehicle breakdown, except maybe during the winter.

Here is a list of the systems that Silverdale Autoworks and our ASE Certified Technicians feel should be inspected and corrected for you to have a safe and trouble free driving experience this winter.

  • Battery: Cold weather puts the most strain on your Battery and a weak one can leave you stranded without notice. Proper Battery testing can uncover a problem before it fails. Using our state-of-the-art test equipment, we can test your Battery and let you know it’s exact condition.
  • Vision Safety: Inspecting Windshield Wiper & Washer Systems as well as Headlights, Brake lights and Turn Signal lights are especially important with Winters reduced visibility.
  • Tires: Tire condition, rotation and proper inflation levels are an important safety service that should be performed every 6,000 miles or every other oil service.
  • Brakes: This is the time of your that you really want your Brakes to perform properly, including the Emergency Brake.
  • Thorough Maintenance Inspection: Inspecting of other vehicle systems such as steering and suspension systems can also affect driving safety and should be inspected.
